Welcome to my TraveL and Photo Log!

We all have different and very personal approaches to travelling, and our own way of feeling and relating to it varies during our lifetime as a result of our experience and the knowledge acquired.
Usually, as for any other source of learning, the more you know the more you want to know. It's kind of a circle where you have to enter at one point and, once inside, you hardly get off.
I would say, in other words, that for loving something, you have to know it; but to know it you'd better love it. Which one of these viewpoints you take anyway, there is always a first step to it.
When it all started
I guess my first step towards “travelling” was at the age of six... months when my father got a post at Beirã, in the north of Portugal, near to the border with Spain.
We were in October 1941; World War was at its beginnings.
After about one month at Beirã, my father was sent to Barca d'Alva, another close-by village.
He was working at the time for a German export company sited in Portugal, his job consisting in supervising the goods in transit to Germany: mainly cork, wine and other foodstuff articles.
For my first birthday, my parents took me to Vilar Formoso. That day, for the first time in my life, I stepped on foreign land:
I stood at the border sign, my left foot on Portuguese soil, and my right foot on Spanish land (photo top on the right).
Six years later, for my seventh birthday, I was again standing on the very same spot and being taken on photo (second photo on the right).
Since those faraway days, what a long way I’ve done travelling! It’s those wonderful life snapshots I want to share here with you through my travelogue.
Choose the year on the right column and click to see the respective photos.
Only cruises, long trips or trips to faraway places are posted; occasionally also an excursion to a nice place, a good restaurant or pastry-shop.
Not all of them, however, have yet been downloaded, so please be patient and try next time...
Meanwhile I would like to invite you to explore other parts of my site.
See you soon on my TraveLogue.
